Online Masterclass | Hot topics in Rehabilitation

The University of Otago, Wellington invites you to join us for our free online event, Hot Topics in Rehabilitation. This professional development opportunity presents the latest thinking on a range of important contemporary topics for anyone involved in providing rehabilitation services, support or research. The event is led by Te Whare Whakamātūtū (Rehabilitation Teaching and Research Unit, RTRU) team.

Talk topics

1. How can I get it right for you today? Exploring Te Tiriti partnership in rehabilitation interactions - Dr Jean Hay-Smith

Pākehā paralysis? Worry about misappropriating Māori tikanga or mispronouncing te reo Māori? Me too. Explore with me how we move the focus from our fears to how we behave in ways that enable safety for Māori whānau in rehabilitation.

2. Resilience in uncertain times: Supporting ourselves as we support others - Dr Fi Graham

Looking after our own resilience can be easier said than done despite knowing that it's critical to how we engage with others. Let's take a moment to consider why and how we support ourselves to support others.

3. Return to work for people with Long Covid - Dr Robin Griffiths

Long Covid presents particular needs for work rehabilitation due to the variable and complex effects of this novel condition; thoughts on how to meet the work recovery needs of people with Post Acute Covid Conditions are offered.
