Join us to learn more about the impact of sleep apnoea and asthma on individuals, our families & whānau, and our communities.

This lunchtime discussion aims to inform, educate and provide some answers about a very important area of health care.

 

Speakers

Prof Lutz Beckert

Lutz Beckert is a Professor of Medicine with and Associate Dean Medical Education at the University of Otago. He is also a Respiratory Physician with the Canterbury District Health Board. His clinical interests include pulmonary vascular disease, interstitial lung disease and respiratory physiology. His research interests include care in advance COPD, interstitial lung disease with connective tissues diseases and pulmonary infections.  Lutz has been a contributor to the Respiratory Research Reviews for about ten years and was part of the team publishing the ‘Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ Adolescent and Adult Asthma Guidelines 2020: a quick reference guide.’


Dr Dorren Kirkaldy

Dorren is a Nelson General Practitioner with a special interest in Sleep medicine.  Dorren has worked at Nelson Family Medicine in the heart of Nelson for over 20 years.  She undertook further education in Sleep Medicine at Sydney University and has been working for the Sleepwell Clinic for 10 years.  

She will shed light on obstructive sleep apnoea and give us a better understanding of healthy sleep practices.
